You guys thought Sabeen's Bridal Shower and Menhdi were above and beyond your normal pre-wedding celebration?  Then be ready to be surprised in awe again.  This wedding just blew my mind off.  It was like a royal wedding.  I was blinded by all the golds and elegant colors of guests and families' sari and their accessories.  On top of that we were all wow-ed when we were invited to enter the main ballroom. The lights, decorations and the center pieces!  Once again food was amazing from cocktail hours to the last bits of desserts. Yummy.. Enjoy the few photos I took, this day I was too busy eating and enjoying the wedding ;)

With the wedding season surrounding us, Nicla & Michel of Gypsy Warrior Vintage, and I decided to put together a vintage wedding dress inspired photoshoot.  They had some great pieces to pull this idea together.  With the help of professional hair stylist and make up artist, the girls looked amazing even in the 103 degree weather.  Hope this can spark some inner creativity in you xoxo

Last weekend before we attended Sabeen's wedding (pictures are coming soon),  Victoria Chae, Certified M.A.C Make-up artist gave us a little lesson of how to put on make up properly.  You know it gets confusing with all the products out there of orders and the technique we need to apply to get the ideal look.  Check her blog out for more make-up and product tips. (also follow her on twitter @VicktoriaC)  By the way the girls got so many compliments at the wedding for their make-up xoxo Thanks Vicky!

Menhdi

This summer has been filled with events after events. (Seems like everyone is getting married!)  And one of the event was a Menhdi.  Menhdi is an application of henna in temporary form of skin decoration in India as well as one of the biggest celebration ritual for the bride before the big day.  If you've been following my blog, you probably noticed I've been covering the events of this bride's journey of marriage and every event was simply amazing.  (Sabeen you have impeccable taste and style!)  This menhdi too was filled with so many elements you will never find it elsewhere.  From intricate decors in space and on skin (henna) to extraordinary dance performances by both sides of the families.  (I'm not being bias here but Sabeen's family, especially the performance by the "General 5" was THE BEST!!)  The food was delicious, all the colors of sari and decoration made me to believe that I was in some Bollywood film.  I attended as a guest this time but I wouldn't want these photos to just sit in my folder.  So here are some shots I love.  Enjoy!

Whimsical Bridal Shower

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

'Tis is the season of weddings.  And I've been to a bridal shower after a bridal shower and this one was the hands down the most creative one so far.  It had a strong foundation of the whimsical Alice in Wonderland's Mad Hatter's Tea Party theme fused with bride's impeccable taste of sweets and her love for elephants.  This shower took months of preparation and you could tell everything in the room from place cards to antique keys were either handmade or specifically found/borrowed and bought to portray the bride.  Among the sweets and savories of bride's favorites were mini chocolate cupcakes from Billy's Bakery, Goat cheese and Herb scones from Clinton Street Baking Company, Cream Puffs from Beard Papas and an Earl Gray Cupcake with Earl Gray Frosting from a recipe from her trip to England (my personal fav).

I hope they kept the room for a while because if I had this set up at home I'll call all my girlfriends over for tea party everyday! And hats and fun outfits would be mandatory.

Wonderfully created and styled by Melissa JW Choi, Suzie Ham, and Safia Khalid.
