Ken & Nan

My good friends Ken and Nan said "I Do" last Thursday at the New York City Hall amongst a group of close friends.  The weather forecast predicted 20% chance of rain, but we must have caught all of that 20% because we were soaked!  But having a super positive couple helped get through the day. Although we were walking the Brooklyn Bridge in a waterfall, they were enjoying the moment and saying that the rain made things more romantic.  After walking around in the rain, we rendezvous'd with the rest of the party for a delicious dim sum dinner and ended the day with a full stomach and a head full of memories.  Congratulations again and I will see you guys next summer in Seattle.

Here is a little story of how I met this family:

When I was in LA last month for a workshop I stayed in a hostel in Little Tokyo to make my morning commute easier.  (I heard horrible stories about LA traffic)  Then I met Alex, the on-site hostel manager, and his almost 1 year old daughter Hanna.  I could not get over how cute this baby was!!  I went to my first day of the workshop, got super inspired, and did something completely out of the ordinary for me.  I called Alex and asked if I could photograph his family.  They said no due to baby's schedule, and it was dinner time, and I only had 30 min window before the sunset, etc etc… I was kind of bummed that I couldn't photograph them but I expected a no so I moved on and got ready to go out for dinner.  Then the phone rang again! (Ah… I did have a weird feeling he might call back)  When Alex told Haruka about my phone call she replied "You said no to baby photos? Call her back!" Thank god for Mothers! (ハるか!ありがとうございます) Haha! So here we are with these photos of this gorgeous family.  I'm really glad I got my courage up and asked! I think I will definitely visit them again when I'm in town next.  Thanks guys for making what could've been really awkward into something so memorable!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of accompanying the talented Judy Pak to Brooklyn to photograph a gorgeous couple.  First, I have to say, Brian and Jennifer, your home is decorated with such taste (I wanted to stay there forever!).  We walked around the neighborhood, found hidden neighborhood corners and captured some sweet moments of the two.  Photographing a good looking couple makes the job so much easier.  Thanks for the wonderful day and thanks again Judy, Brian, and Jennifer for letting me be part of it!

Jessica and Peter had a hectic couple months.  These photos are of them celebrating their 3rd wedding event, at Moran's in Chelsea. Their journey began with the City Hall ceremony, then went on to the wedding in Korea on Christmas Eve, an intimate gathering of their friends in NYC, and it will end with a flourish in upstate New York next month.  Despite the international marathon of celebrations, the couple put on their dancing shoes and partied the night away.  I think they are going to need a nice long vacation after their final bash in Syracuse.  Good luck guys ;)
